The reconstruction of Vainera Street will begin in Yekaterinburg next week.
Reconstruction work on Weiner Street will start next week in Yekaterinburg, the city administration reports. The last major update to Yekaterinburg's Arbat was over 20 years ago.
Plans include bringing Weiner into order on the section from Lenin Avenue to Malyshev Street, as well as its junction with Theater Lane and Popov Street.
The improvement will also affect Popov Street itself: the asphalt concrete surface will be replaced with concrete tiles and a lawn will be arranged. Theater Lane will be illuminated with hanging garlands.
The main feature of the pedestrian street will be landscaping. It is planned to plant more than a thousand plants in special pots, including Siberian apple trees, gray spiraea, panicled hydrangeas, Fassena catnip, common yarrow, and mountain pine.
The total area of flower beds is expected to be over 350 square meters (an area equivalent to about four three-room apartments of 85 sq. m or seven one-room apartments of 50 sq. m - note from Uralweb.ru).
The project includes the installation of small architectural forms, about 50 light fixtures, a video surveillance system, and alerts. Workers will also update the drainage system.
Earlier in January, the Telegram channel Ural Mash visualized proposals from ordinary residents of Yekaterinburg using neural networks and showed how the central streets could look if people's wishes were realized.
