It became known why taxi fares are so expensive in Yekaterinburg.

      Existing restrictions for taxi drivers hinder the reduction of trip costs for passengers. This was stated by the chairman of the All-Russian Passenger Association, Ilya Zotov, at the "Modern Taxi" conference taking place in Yekaterinburg. According to the expert, the current requirements create additional barriers for drivers that do not affect the quality of services but increase the costs for carriers.

      — The barriers that exist for drivers prevent the reduction of trip costs. We need to remove additional burdens on drivers, which are often created just for the sake of formality, Zotov noted. His words were reported by EAN.

      He emphasized that special attention should be paid to self-employed drivers by reducing the administrative burden on them. In addition, the expert believes it is important to develop unified and feasible requirements for the entire country regarding medical examinations and technical inspections of vehicles. According to Zotov, such measures will make taxi rides more accessible for passengers and increase the volume of passenger transportation. The chairwoman of the public council for taxi development, Irina Zaripova, in turn, reported that recently 47 initiatives related to the taxi sector have been proposed at the federal level in Russia. However, according to her, most of them are restrictive in nature.

      — There are practically no initiatives aimed at stimulating the industry, Zaripova emphasized.
