Arrivals from Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg, having communicated online, brutally killed an unfamiliar student in Omsk
June 30, 2026 Six people aged 22-24, including two girls, have been detained on charges of brutally murdering a 20-year-old history student in Omsk, reports RIA Novosti. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the suspects specifically traveled to Omsk from St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. All participants met online.
The mother of 20-year-old Omsk State University student Alexander Triputen reported her son missing on June 21. His body with stab wounds was found five days later, on June 26, in a wasteland near the Syropyatsky tract in the suburbs of Omsk. The victim was discovered in a pit wrapped in garbage bags, with his hands bound with tape. Four stab wounds were counted on his body—three in the neck and one in the chest.
"The suspects were not previously acquainted. They recently met each other online. They came to Omsk from Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg. According to them, the young man owed them money. This version is being verified, as none of them can specify the exact amount. All of them are unemployed and not studying," RIA Novosti was informed by the regional investigative committee.
The participants in the crime arranged a meeting with Alexander near an abandoned building. "There they immobilized him and moved him to a wasteland," the press service of the regional courts reported. According to the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspects prepared for the murder, including planning an alibi, buying construction tape, polymer bags, and gloves. The victim was lured to a deserted place under the pretext of handing him a gold nugget. According to the Investigative Committee, the detained individuals "turned out to be friends of the victim."
The young man's mother, Elena, is convinced that only someone he was closely communicating with could have lured her son to the site of the tragedy.
"The place where the body was found is 15 kilometers from Omsk. He took a taxi there. I am sure: he would not have gone that far to meet strangers. He was not interested in youth gatherings and did not know how to fight," Elena told RIA Novosti.
Only one girl among the detainees turned out to be local. According to the investigation, she "entered into a preliminary conspiracy with the other defendants, coordinating with them the date and place of the crime."
As reported from the courtroom by the local "12 Channel," Alexander was allegedly in love with one of the suspects and showed excessive obsession. However, according to his mother, the killers of her son can come up with any excuse now. "My son did not have a girlfriend, and he was not interested in gold," emphasizes Elena Triputen.
Nevertheless, personal animosity is the priority version of the investigation, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Omsk region. The version of occult murder is not being considered.
"The version of a financial conflict is also being considered. But the main version is personal animosity," the press service of the agency said.
"At the moment, investigative actions are being conducted. There are several versions of what happened. But it is definitely not an occult motive; this version is not being considered," RIA Novosti was informed.
The identities of the detainees have not yet been disclosed. However, it is known that one of the suspects has numerous certificates as a volunteer—her lawyer requested to include them as character documents in the investigation materials. On Monday and Tuesday, all detainees will have their preventive measures chosen; most of them are already in custody. Today, the funeral of the murdered student will take place in Omsk.
