Night buses will be launched in the rival city of Yekaterinburg starting from July 3.
Night buses will be launched on July 3 in Chelyabinsk. This was reported on Tuesday, June 30, by the regional "Transport Organizer."
As the portal 74.RU writes, bus route 64n will connect the city center and the northwest. Spacious buses will be put on the route.
It is planned that night public transport will operate two nights a week - from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday - until September 20.
The trips will be made with an interval of one hour. The first night bus will depart from the final stop at 11:45 PM, and the last one (from the final stop in the opposite direction) will leave at 5:45 AM.
The news caused quite a stir in the comments under the publication. Readers of 74.RU expressed confusion about why the northwest was chosen and on what basis. They also wrote that it is difficult to leave for other districts even during regular evening hours. Some expressed skepticism about whether there would be passengers for the buses at such a late hour to make it profitable.
Earlier in May, the proposal to launch night public transport was also voiced in Yekaterinburg. The idea was put forward by city council deputy Alexander Alshievsky.
